Biografia Cat Power ¿Quién es Cat Power? - Cat Power, cuyo nombre verdadero es Charlyn Marie Marshall, es una compositora y cantante de indie rock, soul, blues, funk, folk, sadcore y rock alternativo. Nació en Atlanta, Georgia, Estados Unidos, el 21 de enero de 1972. Ha ganado reconocimiento con sus trabajos discográficos "Dear Sir", "Myra Lee", "What Would the Community Think", "The Covers Record", "You Are Free", "Jukebox" y "Wanderer", entre otros. - - - Niñez, Juventud y Vida Familiar de Cat Power - Cat Power nació y creció en Estados Unidos, proveniente de una familia humilde, es hija de padres divorciados. Desde joven mostró su interés por la música, contando con el apoyo de sus familiares más cercanos. - - - Inicios de Cat Power en la Música - Cat Power comenzó su carrera a mediados de los años noventa tras actuar como telonera de Liz Phair, logrando conocer a Steve Shelley, Sonic Youth y Tum Foljahn, quienes la motivaron a lanzar su álbum debut. - - - Género musical de Cat Power - Cat Power se ha destacado por interpretar sus temas en los géneros indie rock, soul, blues, funk, folk y rock alternativo. Asimismo, la música reciente puede ser adscrita al folk alternativo. - - - Trayectoria y Legado de Cat Power - En 1995 Cat Power lanza su disco debut "Dear Sir", que resultó un éxito inmediato. Al siguiente año logra firmar contrato con el sello Matador Records, una de las discográficas indies más reconocidas e influyentes de Estados Unidos. - - A mediados de 2006 realiza el estreno de su siguiente disco "Myra Lee", el cual fue seguido por su álbum "What Would the Community Think". Más adelante, en 1998, lanza "Moon Pix", que fue grabado en Australia con la ayuda de Jim White y Mick Turner, integrantes de la banda Dirty Three. - - Más adelante, en el 2000, Cat Power lanza "The Covers Record", que contiene versiones de populares canciones. Después de un breve receso, en el 2003 lanzan "You Are Free", un disco mucho más instrumental, que la ayudó a levantar su estatus de celebridad alternativa. - - Seguidamente estrena "Speaking for Trees: A Film by Mark Borthwick", un DVD que contiene un vídeo de más de cien minutos de duración. El DVD se encuentra acompañado también por un CD de audio compuesto por una canción de 18 minutos. - - Dos años más tarde, en el 2006, continua con el lanzamiento de "The Greatest", un disco que ha sido catalogado como un éxito comercial, siendo solicitado a nivel internacional. - - Más tarde, en el 2008, Cat Power realiza el estreno de "Jukebox", un disco grabado de famosas versiones de canciones. Este es el segundo álbum de versiones de Chan Marshall; el primero, "The Covers Record", fue lanzado en 2000. - - Después de cuatro años sin lanzar un nuevo disco, en el 2012, Cat Power estrena "Sun", que se posicionó rápidamente.
